WRITE A VERY SHORT PIECE ABOUT A QUIRK YOU HAVE OR HAD IN YOUR LIFETIME
ALARM
The alarm rings and I hit the snooze button. At
the end of my nine more minutes of sleep, I feel even more tired and hit the
snooze button again. This is a daily thing for me; it’s how I best operate.
Nine more minutes of sleep! The next time the alarm rings I feel almost ready
for life but I hit snooze again. And when the alarm goes off this time, I know
I will soon be waking up but there have to be nine more minutes left in me so
the snooze button works its purpose again. This time, however, the sleep isn’t
a true healing sleep. It’s more like resting my eyes, or maybe I could go as
far as to call it dozing.
The alarm rings one last time and it sounds
louder than all the other times. This go-round I shut it off and sit up in bed.
I feel a hundred times more rested than the first time and I’m ready to face
the day. How did I ever survive without a snooze button before? Four staggered
snoozes were the difference between an active awake day and a day spent trying
not to fall asleep in class. Whatever it is, it works and I will enjoy it while
I can. I’m pretty sure that after college I will be waking to one ring of the
alarm more often than I want to.
